Year-on-year wine imports in January-February 2019 Domestic

China's wine imports fell 13% year-on-year in the first two months of this year, with 118,765 kiloliters imported, while imports fell 10% year-on-year to a total of $6,049,000, according to data released by the China Institute of Commerce and Industry.
 
Meanwhile, domestic wine production increased by 11.8% year-on-year to 114,000 kiloliters.

In the first three quarters of 2018, China's wine production declined slightly, but the country's wine production returned to growth in the fourth quarter.

After an 8.95 per cent decline in total imports and a slight 1.1 per cent increase in imports in 2018, the industry is generally pessimistic about China's import edith market in 2019, saying that there is unlikely to be a significant growth trend this year.
 
China's consumer market has underperformed this year due to slowing economic growth and a continuing trade war, and 2019 may be challenging for imported wine makers.
